How to break in your new glove.

We’re old school. The best way to break in your glove is really simple:

USE IT!!

That’s right use it. Play catch! Pound the pocket with a bat or mallet, have a catch. Go really old school and put a ball in it, tie rubber bands around it, put it under your mattress. Yes we mean it! The best way to break in your glove is to use it! Here are a few other ways to help the process along:

  • Use shaving cream with lanolin in it. Rub it in well, especially in the flex areas. It’s light and effective.
  • Expose it to natural heat. The summer sun, for example, is perfect. Keep your glove in the dashboard of your car on a hot sunny day. It will soften, but caution* the sun exposure may also lighten the leather color*. You have been warned.

DO NOT use these methods to break in your glove (you will regret it):

  • Microwave – burns the leather from the inside out, your laces will be fried.
  • Dunk in a bucket of water – your glove will never feel the same again, trust us.
  • Heavy glove oils – will weigh down and stain the glove. Glove oil is great to refreshen your leather but we do not recommend too much on new gloves.
  • Oven – huh?

Hope this helps. We appreciate you stopping by.
